Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) is an evidence based form of creative therapy where animals, in this case, Reggie, pictured, assist in the provision of therapeutic interventions to individuals of all ages.

Who is it for?

AAT can be suitable for a range of clients with a range of clinical presentations. As you are engaging in evidence based therapy, the animal will only become involved when it is clinically appropriate and beneficial for the client and their therapy goals.

What are the potential benefits of AAT?

  • Reduces anxiety
  • Utilises the Human Animal Bond to enable to the client to experience unconditional acceptance
  • Fosters healthy attachment
  • Develops empathy
  • Assists in regulation during therapy
